Disney's Splash Mountain reopens after false call of smoke

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Splash Mountain ride at Walt Disney World was reopened after a momentarily stoppage today because of reports of a burning smell in the electrical room.

Reedy Creek Fire Department Deputy Chief Richard LePere says there was no smoke or fire when crews responded shortly after 11 a.m. He says the ride was closed for a little more than an hour as a precaution.

LePere says a blown transistor switch may have been the cause of the smell. Nobody was injured.

A Disney spokesman says the disruption was minimal.

Splash Mountain is in the Magic Kingdom's Frontierland. The water ride culminates in a large drop that soaks passengers.
