All lanes of southbound Interstate 275 at Interstate 4 were closed for several hours Wednesday night after a crash involving three vehicles and a semi tractor-trailer, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred around 7:37 p.m. According to the patrol, Steven Gordon, 37, of Gainesville was southbound on I-275 in a 2011 Nissan Altima when he stopped his vehicle for a crash ahead. Carolyn A Butler, 46, of Clearwater didn't maintain control of her 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser and crashed into the Nissan.
The vehicle behind the Chrysler, a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Michelle O'Shaughnessy, 27, of Tampa, then ran into the crashed vehicles. Then a semi tractor-trailer behind the Ford driven by Richard Arnold Miller, 64, of Tifton, Ga., crashed into the Taurus, the patrol said.
O'Shaughnessy was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in serious condition, but her injuries were non life-threatening, the patrol said. The other drivers were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
