Richard Gonzmart, of the family that founded the Columbia Restaurant, was named Tampa Metro Civitan Club Citizen of the Year today at the Governor's Day Luncheon at the Florida State Fair.
Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor, in making the announcement, praised Gonzmart's long history of work in various civic areas, including supporting cancer research at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute and raising money for families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
"I haven't done enough yet to receive this award," Gonzmart said. "There is so much left to do."
