A 4-year-old boy shot during a drive-by in Manatee County on Saturday morning remains in stable condition and authorities say the wound does not appear to be life threatening.

The child was shot in the head at 2603 36th Ave., W. shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, Manatee County sheriff's deputies said.

Someone drove past the home and fired several shots into the structure, deputies said. One bullet went through a bedroom window and hit the unidentified child, who lives in the home with his mother, who was not injured, deputies said.

Deputies say the shooting does not appear to be a random incident and that the home was targeted for unknown reasons.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at (941) 747-3011, ext. 2535 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-8477.
