Restaurants such as Beach Bistro in Holmes Beach and Tampa's Pane Rustica aren't the only leading lights of Tampa's food scene shining across the national stage.
The restaurants were named as the region's top dining destinations in the Zagat Survey's America's Top Restaurants guide for 2012, released this week.
Earlier, the survey company's foodie blog, Zagat Buzz, included The Tampa Tribune's food writer, Jeff Houck, on its list of 140 people and restaurants to follow on Twitter.
The blog called Houck "cheeky" and "knowledgeable," saying he "flavors his tweets with plenty of jokes."
The list also includes celebrity chefs such as Bobby Flay and Gordon Ramsay; celebrated food writers and bloggers such as Gael Greene, the longtime New York food critic; and Dana Cowin, Food & Wine magazine's editor-in-chief.
Houck, the Tribune's food writer since 2005, is the Tampa Bay region's only representative on Zagat's list of must-follow foodies.
