School project attracts butterflies

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Dale Mabry Elementary School PTA hosted its Spring Beautification Day on April 18. More than 100 parent and student volunteers helped weed, mulch and paint at the elementary school.

"It was great to see so many parents and students come to school on a Saturday to help with this fun and rewarding project," said Jim Baker, Beautification Day Committee chairman.

Kathy McDonald, Dale Mabry PTA's Environmental Improvement Committee chairwoman, helped out at Beautification Day by preparing for the creation of a Butterfly Garden. In celebration of Earth Day the following week, McDonald brought together 130 pupils from the fourth grade to plant the garden, and within a half hour the first butterflies arrived.
