Alain Rafael Del Rio, 16, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout. A ceremony was Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, at which Del Rio's Scoutmaster, Stan Shorey, was scheduled to present him with the award.
Del Rio, a patrol leader in Scout Troop 45, attended his Eagle Scout board of review in May and was unanimously recommended for the honor. The Tampa native is a student at Jefferson High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and an offensive lineman on the school's football team.
He hopes to attend the University of South Florida and major in marine biology.
