A couple of weeks after being arrested for not paying alimony and attorney fees, the former head of an area car dealership was arrested Thursday on a civil warrant, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Ernie Haire III, who at one time was in charge of Ernie Haire Ford, was arrested at his home, 16225 Villareal de Avila, Tampa.
Circuit Judge Emily Peacock had issued an arrest warrant for contempt of court, said Debbie Carter, a sheriff's office spokeswoman.
When sheriff's deputies went to his home about 8 a.m., Haire wouldn't answer the door, although deputies had seen him in the home.
Deputies knocked and shouted their reason for being there, but he still wouldn't answer the door.
Finally, deputies noticed an open ground-floor window and entered the home. They searched the house and found Haire hiding behind clothes in a bedroom closet, according to arrest records.
He was released from county jail Thursday afternoon after paying $119,875 and $500 bail for resisting arrest without violence.
