Members of the Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club have watched 60 years of motorcycling trends come and go.
And with the organization's 60th anniversary coming up, the group wants to focus on the future.
When the group, which has its clubhouse at 9901 Henderson Road, was founded by John Lovengreen and his cronies back in June 1950, the members did a lot of dirt bike racing.
"They were real hell-raisers back then," said Jim Fait, club president. "They were a crazy bunch."
But the intention of the founders was to start a club open to all types of motorcyclists, promote the safe and sane operation of motorcycles and for the enjoyment of riding.
The Golden Eagles have about 35 members, are part of the American Motorcyclist Association and takes pride in the fact that it is open to riders of all types of motorcycles.
With the anniversary celebration coming up, club officials hope to increase its membership.
The anniversary will include a reunion and 25-mile poker run April 18 starting and ending at the clubhouse.
