PLANT CITY - The Florida Strawberry Festival attracted about 500,000 paying customers, about the same as 2009.
Festival General Manager Paul Davis said a final tally of festival attendance wasn't available, but "we're on par with last year."
Carnival receipts from the midway rides were up about 1 percent, Davis said. The half-million crowd estimate doesn't include free admissions, including about 4,300 on American Heroes Day and nearly 24,000 children on the Kids' Day.
