10 arrested in St. Pete prostitution sting

A female officer passed herself off as a prostitute Wednesday night as part of a prostitution sting, and 10 people were arrested, police said.

Most of those arrested were charged with solicitation for prostitution after they offered the officer money for sexual acts. The sting was conducted in the area of Eighth Avenue North and 34th Street.

In addition, one person was found to be a felon in possession of a firearm which had altered serial numbers, another exposed himself to the officer and a third was found to be driving while drunk.

Police impounded the vehicles of five of suspects because they were behind the wheel when soliciting the officer.
