HEARING THE CALL: Church Women United - West Pasco Unit will present a Human Rights Celebration at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, 4651 Little Road, New Port Richey. The theme is "Living the Challenge - Differently Enabled, Uniquely Called," and the program invites those attending to consider how the world may be inaccessible to people with physical, mental or emotional disabilities. DINNER AND A STORY: A barbecue chicken dinner and storytelling around the campfire will be from 5 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with the Pioneer Florida Days at the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village, a mile north of Dade City off U.S. 301. The dinner, cooked by Chet Taylor, will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. for $7, with storytelling around the campfire from 5:45 to 9 p.m. and featuring Sen. David Yulee Levy and Back in Tyme. Take-out and dine-in dinners are available. Dinner tickets do not include admission to Pioneer Florida Days, which open at 9 a.m. and offer other activities. CRUISE DADE CITY: Dade City Cruise-In, one of downtown's most popular events, will start its 2010-11 season with a big party and super car and motorcycle show from 3 to 8 p.m. The Cruise-In is hosted by the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce and awards will be given to participants with vehicles in these categories: Best Chevrolet, Best Dodge, Best Ford, Ladies Choice, Manager's Choice, Best Driver, Best Low Rider, Best Orphan, Best Street Rod and Best Rat Rod.

This month motorcyclists also are invited to attend and show off their bikes. There will be a special section designated just for the motorcycle show. Also included will be a Hula-Hoop contest for children and a book that children can complete by buying foods from vendors that will make them eligible to win prizes.

DJ Eddy will provide music at the Cruise-In and debut a new lineup of songs.

Food and specialty item vendors will also be featured and downtown merchants will remain open for shopping and dining. The Cruise-In is free and open to the public. For information, call the chamber at (352) 567-3769 or visit www.dadecitychamber

JUMP IN THE POOL: The James P. Gills Family YMCA in Trinity is inviting the public to a free pool party from noon to 2 p.m.

SEE 'CHER': "Simply The Best" hosted by WeCats Corp. featuring the tribute artist Lisa Irion as "Cher" will be Sept. 11 at the Wesley Chapel Center for the Arts, 30651 Wells Road, Wesley Chapel. Irion was chosen by moderators of Cher's official website to be the Cher impersonator at Cher expos for Cher's charities. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $38. CHILI'S FUNDRAISER: Gulfside Regional Hospice will hold a fundraiser at Chili's, 9600 U.S. 19, Port Richey, from 4 to 10 p.m. Sept. 13. Jay Michalec, manager of the local restaurant, wants to support the "Rhythm of the Spirit" children's bereavement camp. The camp is held by Gulfside Regional Hospice once a year to benefit children ages 6 to 12 who have lost a loved one. For each flier presented on the day of the fundraiser, Chili's will donate 10 percent of the sales to Gulfside's bereavement program. If you do not have a flier, mention that you are supporting Gulfside Regional Hospice. It will be important to RSVP through Gulfside Regional Hospice if you plan to participate because Chili's wants have enough staff to serve hospice supporters that day. Call (727) 844-3946.
