Krewes Kare will host its ninth annual Knight Parade Krash Party on Saturday, following the 7 p.m. Knights of Sant' Yago Illuminated Knight Parade.
The party will be at the Italian Club, 1731 E. Seventh Ave., from 8:30 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday. It includes an open bar, buffet, and music by Rollin Lint Revue and others.
Krewes Kare is a nonprofit organization, comprised of members of various krewes who assist with relief efforts following disasters.
Tickets are $40 each and available at www.kreweskare.org.
Prior to the parade, the Rough Riders will host the Southern Comfort Pre-Knight Parade Presidential Pub Crawl, beginning at 2 p.m. at JJ's, 1601 E. Seventh Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
Other krewes will have activities on Friday night.
- The Thieves of San Lorenzo will host a Red Hot Soiree from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Italian Club. The event includes hors d' oeuvres, sangria, a live auction and casino games.

- The Krewe of Santa Margarita and the Krewe of Shamrock will have an all-krewe social from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Whiskey Joe's on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Proceeds from the event will assist in giving disabled children a day of fishing. There is no admission charge.
Beer sampling benefits Joshua House
97X Beer in the Park will feature a sampling of 80 beers, as well as showcase 12 craft beers and food from area restaurants.
The fundraiser for Friends of Joshua House will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Hyde Park Village, 1621 N. Snow Ave. Paint the Town Red will perform.

Monsignor Higgins honored at luncheon
Monsignor Laurence Higgins, pastor emeritus of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, will receive the distinguished citizen award at a Feb. 24 luncheon, sponsored by Gulf Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The luncheon will be at noon at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St. The keynote speaker will be Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, chief of staff, U.S. Central Command.

Casino night benefits MS Society
The 10th annual MaSquerade, set for 7 p.m. Saturday, will benefit the National MS Society.
The casino night theme party at the Tampa Garden Club, 2629 Bayshore Blvd., will feature food, an open bar, live and silent auctions and casino tables.
Tickets are $75 each with tables and sponsorships available from $750. It is sponsored by MaSquerade of Tampa, which was founded by Ande Felder in honor of her daughter, Megan, who was diagnosed with MS 16 years ago.

Gospel music featured Saturday
"Voices Rising," a celebration of the history of gospel music and Black History Month, will take place in the Smith Black Box Theater on the campus of Tampa Preparatory School on Saturday.
The event features the tenor voices of Gregory E. Bentley, Robert Carpenter, Fredrick H. L. McClure and Oscar Osborne. The student choruses of Tampa Prep and Academy Prep Center of Tampa also will perform.
The event will benefit Tampa Prep's Lightning-Crozier Fund, providing financial support for Academy Prep graduates attending Tampa Prep.
