Unlike elsewhere in Hillsborough County, all Temple Terrace voters — regardless of party affiliation — may head to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots on the city's economic referendum.
While Republicans throughout Florida select a presidential nominee, all registered voters in Temple Terrace will have a chance to weigh in on a citywide business incentive measure.
The referendum asks voters to give the Temple Terrace City Council authority to allow tax breaks to attract businesses. If it passes, companies that choose to locate or expand in Temple Terrace could get a reduction in their property taxes.
All 383 voting precincts in Hillsborough County will be open to vote in Florida's Republican Presidential Preference Primary, said Travis Abercrombie, spokesman for the Hillsborough County supervisor of elections. In Temple Terrace, polls will be open at 10 locations, spanning precincts 650 to 659.
Early voting for the citywide referendum runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Saturday at the Temple Terrace Public Library, city spokesman Michael Dunn said.
