Arcadia man arrested in dog-burning case

An Arcadia man is under arrest in connection with setting a dog on fire that is being treated at a Tampa veterinary hospital.

Larry Wallace, 66, was arrested by Arcadia police today and is charged him with one count of cruelty to animals, a third-degree felony, and one count of arson, a second-degree felony.

The 1-year-old female mixed-breed dog was set on fire on March 29 at Williams home, 149 Harris Road, according to the Hardee Animal Rescue Team.

The dog, named Hope by rescuers, is making progress at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa where she is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

Williams has a court date of May 19.
