A man from Lutz died early Friday morning in Sarasota when he began to have a medical issue while driving and crashed after losing control of his vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Nicholas Marsicano, 59, died after the 4:20 a.m. crash at Interstate 75 and Border Road, FHP said.
Marsicano was heading north on Interstate 75 in a 2004 Chevy Venture when he began experiencing a medical issue, FHP said.
As he passed the Border Road overpass, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then went into the center median, where it struck a palm tree with its right front, FHP said.
Marsicano was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
