A record number of students will graduate from the University of South Florida this spring, including 81-year-old Rose Burke, whose education started in a one-room schoolhouse.
Burke is getting a degree in English literature from USF Sarasota-Manatee. The school's youngest graduate is Kristen Shalosky, 19, who has earned a bachelor's in international business from USF Tampa. She began at USF when she was 15.
Burke and Shalosky are among 5,608 USF spring graduates. Ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. tonight and continue on Saturday at the Sun Dome on the Tampa campus.
Among the 5,608 graduates are 3,662 with bachelor's degrees, 1,073 with master's and 173 with doctoral and specialist degrees.
