9:13 p.m. A spokesman for Gov. Charlie Crist said he had no knowledge of the governor returning to Tallahassee tonight - contrary to a tip from the chairman of the Pinellas County GOP.
Tony DiMatteo earlier had told the Tampa Tribune that Crist had changed his plans and would return to Tallahassee to deal with "legal issues" rather than appear at the Pinellas County Republican Victory Party.
Asked about that, Sterling Ivey, spokesman for Crist, said had checked with other staff members for Crist but had heard nothing about a sudden return trip to the capital. Secretary of State Kurt Browning, who also fielded a question about the rumor during a briefing with reporters tonight, said he knew nothing of the governor heading back to Tallahassee, either.
