Voter Becomes Walking Candidate Sign In Lutz

8:30 a.m.: Mike Godwin stood out from the crowd at the First United Methodist Church in Lutz, or at least from the line.

As people exited cars and scurried to the end of the line, Godwin kept away but always making sure he could be seen.

That's because he was sporting a shirt with the name of Ed Homan, a Republican candidate for the state Legislature. He was at the poll on his own, not part of an organized effort by the campaign.

"I don't mind helping a good candidate," he said.

Goodman already voted, so the growing line just meant more eyeballs for his shirt. He cupped a container of coffee.

"I'm retired, so I'm not usually up this early," he said.
