Video: Hillsborough Park Shooting
Edtitor's note: An earlier version of this story gave an incorrect location for the shootings.
The two brothers who were shot Monday night in the Bloomingdale Golfers Club area of Valrico are recovering at Tampa General Hospital, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
The brothers, 18- and 24-year-olds whom the Tribune is not identifying because the shooter has not been apprehended, had asked a friend to drive to the area of Natures Way and Golf Meadow Drive, Carter said. They arrived at 9:40 p.m., Carter said, and the brothers got out of the friend's truck and walked behind a wall while the friend waited in the vehicle.
The friend, whose name was not released, told deputies he heard shots and saw the brothers run to the pickup and jump in the bed. He drove them to the 18-year-old's home, and the men's mother called the sheriff's office.
The wounds were not life-threatening, Carter said.
The 18-year-old was shot once in the back. He was taken by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital. The 24-year-old was shot twice in a leg and airlifted to Tampa General.
Deputies do not have a description of the shooter, Carter said.
