TAMPA - Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies need help finding a suspect in a robbery and shooting last week.
Charlton Quincy Dawkins
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Charlton Quincy Dawkins, 27, whose last known address was 1315 W. 14th St., Lakeland. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
He faces arrest on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and charges of robbery with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
According to the sheriff's office, Dawkins is a suspect in the shooting of Taurean Capeheart on Thursday at Capeheart's home, 1331 Pierre Place.
The victim and a friend were at the apartment when they were confronted by Dawkins, according to the sheriff's office. Dawkins pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Capeheart and his friend, at which time Capeheart produced a handgun and the two exchanged gunfire.
Dawkins fled, and Capeheart was taken to St. Josephs Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left thigh area. The wound was not life-threatening, officials said.
