NEW PORT RICHEY - Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at 5450 St. James St.
Police responded to the address when a 911 call describing "a gunshot to the head" came in about 8 p.m. Friday, said assistant police Chief Darryl W. Garman.
The victim, a 22-year-old Hispanic male, was taken by helicopter to a St. Petersburg Hospital, police said. The victim's name and condition were not immediately available late Friday. Police have not yet determined the motive for the shooting but said the suspect did appear to know the identity of the victim.
