TAMPA - Osceola County's deputy chief circuit court clerk was arrested in Tampa on Tuesday night on a charge of driving under the influence, an arrest report states.

Paul Persaud, 40, of 1595 Shady Oak Drive, Kissimmee, was released from Orient Road Jail after posting $500 bail, records show.

Shortly before midnight, Tampa Police Department Officer Steven Wilson stopped a blue Chevrolet truck on Kennedy Boulevard for having no lights on, the report states.

The driver, Persaud, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. According to the report, he failed a field sobriety test, and police say they found open alcohol containers in the vehicle and his pocket.

Persaud submitted to a Breathalyzer test, which showed his blood-alcohol level to be 0.17, records show. Florida law presumes a driver to be impaired at .08.
