TAMPA - A male Grevy's zebra was born Dec. 27 at Busch Gardens. The foal was able to run with the rest of the herd within an hour of its birth, according to park officials.

The Grevy's zebra is distinguished by its large ears and more numerous and narrower black stripes than other species of zebra.

A female Grevy's zebra named Shadow was born at the theme park March 27. The newest zebra had not been named as of Thursday.

Busch Gardens' 65-acre Serengeti Plain is a naturalistic habitat featuring African animals including giraffes, zebra, eland antelope and several other species of hoof stock and birds, according to its Web site.

Grevy's zebras live on the park's Serengeti Plain and can be viewed from the Edge of Africa and the Serengeti Express Train.
