Elementary School Employee Honored

TAMPA --

William R. Davis, the custodian at Springhead Elementary School in Plant City, was honored Tuesday as Hillsborough County's instructional support employee of the year.

Davis, known as Mr. Bill at the school, is famous at Springhead for his depiction of "Character Ed," a superhero who inspires good behavior among students. The school district and the Hillsborough Education Foundation honored him during an awards ceremony at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

The other finalists were:

Chuck Beckman of Cleveland Elementary School;

Lamar Francis Davis III of LaVoy Exceptional Center;

And Patricia Fleurijean of Wimauma Elementary School.
