The U.S. Flag of Honor flew Wednesday over the Tampa Police Department district office where slain Cpl. Mike Roberts worked.

Police Chief Stephen Hogue and Maj. John Bennett raised the flag about 11:30 a.m. over District II, 9330 N. 30th St.

The U.S. Flag of Honor flew over ground zero during recovery efforts in New York after 9/11. It travels to American cities where law enforcement officers, firefighters or military personnel have died in the line of duty.

The flag, which was on display at Roberts' wake and funeral, arrived in Tampa on Monday. It came to the Bay area from Miami, where it was flown for a U.S. Marine killed in Afghanistan, Tampa police said.

It flew over District II for one day. It will now be taken to another city.

Roberts was fatally shot Aug. 19. Police have charged Humberto Delgado Jr. in the slaying.

Police also said Wednesday that Ronnie Setser S&S Paint and Body, 732½ N. Dale Mabry Highway, is holding a fundraiser Friday night for Roberts' family. The fundraiser runs from 7 p.m. to about midnight.
