The cremated remains of a decorated World War II veteran and his wife will be interred Wednesday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, nearly three weeks after they were found at an illegal dump site.
The remains of Delbert E. and Barbara Hahn, along with those of a third person, were discovered Nov. 28 behind a vacant college on Busch Boulevard.
A burial service has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to Ronald Derr Sr. of Jackson Funeral Home, which is transporting the remains to Bushnell.
The two Tampa police officers who led the investigation, Cpl. Edward Croissant and Officer Dan College, will escort the Hahns' remains from the funeral home to Bushnell.
A couple looking through dumped items found the urns and details on Delbert Hahn's military retirement and medals. Hahn survived the invasion of Normandy and was a two-time Purple Heart recipient.
It wasn't immediately clear when he died.
Barbara Hahn died Aug. 1, 2003, and was cremated at Southeastern Crematories in Clearwater.
She had willed her Zephyrhills mobile home to Alan and Nicki Sheran. The Sherans weren't able to remove all of their possessions before losing ownership last year and the urns were among the items left behind, Nicki Sheran has said. She said the third urn contains the remains of Barbara Hahn's mother, Barbara Stahlhofen.
Officials haven't confirmed the identity of those remains. The third urn will stay in the Tampa Police Department's property room until it is claimed.
