Reid Sigmon, who headed the Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee, has taken his name out of contention for a similar post with the Tampa Sports Authority.

In an e-mail to authority members, he said he had a job offer requiring him to leave Tampa. "It was a difficult decision, but another opportunity has presented itself in the last few weeks and its timing requires a decision and will necessitate leaving Tampa," he wrote

Sigmon came to the Tampa Bay area from Cleveland, where he was director of stadium development and event operations for the Cleveland Browns. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1998 to join the Tampa Bay Final Four organizing committee as assistant director. In 1999, he was operations director for the Tampa Bay Super Bowl XXXV task force.

Remaining candidates for executive director, which pays between $140,000 and $190,000 a year, are:

•Eric D. Hart, president and CEO of Lansing (Mich.) Entertainment and Public Facilities Authority

•Sean Henry, business consultant, Tampa Bay Lightning

•David Hersh of Tampa, former player development director for the New York Yankees

•William C. Overfelt, general manager, Fresno (Calif.) Convention and Entertainment Center

•Richard Bjorklund, president and CEO, Tulsa County (Okla.) Public Facilities Authority
