Will Sexauer, 17, didn't mind becoming a corpse outside River Ridge High on Thursday afternoon. He just preferred to do it in comfort.
"I'm dying right here; there's shade," Sexauer said as he dropped a sheet beneath a tree near Town Center Road.
The teenager couldn't help adding a little levity to the situation, even though he and several other River Ridge students had volunteered to help convey a serious message.
The school will hold its prom tonight. School officials want to make sure everyone returns home safe.
So at the end of the school day Thursday, a group of students with sheets draped over them lay in the grass near the school exit. Other students held signs with messages, such as: "If you drink and drive you could be wearing a sheet."
"Hopefully, we'll get our point across," said Corinna Dyl, 16, the junior class president.
