Newcomer Emma and perennial favorite Jacob may top the list of popular baby names nationwide, but Florida marches to a different drummer.
The Sunshine State is the only one where Jayden is the No. 1 name for baby boys, with 1,331 of them in 2008, according to the Social Security Administration. Florida's top pick for girls, Isabella, at 1,558, was the most popular choice in several states.
Brianna and Mia also crept into the Top 10 among Florida baby names, bucking the national trend.
The administration recently released its list of baby names for 2008, based on records of Social Security card applications through February 2009. It shows, in order of popularity, where all the Ethans, Alexanders, Madisons and Avas fall, nationally and state by state.
Jayden was No. 11 nationwide in 2008 and Isabella was No. 2.
