Streetcar Fest has tours, 5-cent rides

TAMPA --

Today's TECO Streetcar Fest offers 5-cent rides on the downtown streetcar line, along with free lunch certificates for children at Centro Ybor, tours of the Ybor Station streetcar barn and other activities.

The event, sponsored by HART, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yacht Starship is offering a tour of Tampa Bay for $8, with a 2:30 p.m. sailing. Space is limited and tickets go on sale at noon at the downtown dock, 603 Channelside Drive.

Entertainment is scheduled at Centro Ybor, and discounts will be provided by shops, restaurants, the Tampa Bay History Center and The Florida Aquarium, which are on the streetcar line. HART broke ground Friday on a streetcar expansion that will extend north on Franklin Street to Whiting Street and the Fort Brooke parking garage.
