People who forgot their coats Monday morning were out of luck as Tampa broke the record for the lowest temperature for the date. It was 48 degrees in Tampa on Monday morning. The previous record of 51 degrees was set in 1927.
Expect to add and subtract layers of clothing this week as West Central Florida settles into a typical October pattern of fronts dropping temperatures, followed by a few days of higher temperatures, then another cold front, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters expect the next cold front to make its way toward the Bay area around Saturday. They also are calling for a 40 percent chance of rain, so keep those umbrellas handy.
