TAMPA - A Tampa man who pleaded guilty to buying $88,000 worth of merchandise over four months using credit cards in the names of other people was sentenced to nine years in prison on Tuesday, the Florida attorney general's office announced today.
In 2006, Roise Arsis was arrested after an investigation by local, state and federal agents. Prosecutors said Arsis, 35, had obtained driver's licenses with his picture but with the names, addresses and other information of six different people. He used the licenses to apply for credit cards at several retail stores in Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, Osceola, Orange and Seminole counties.
Arsis was arrested in Polk County and sentenced by Circuit Judge Steven Selph. Arsis, who had no criminal record, had pleaded guilty to an organized scheme to defraud and six counts of criminal use of personal identification.
