A 28-year-old Tampa man tried to rape a woman at Ragan Park in July, and during the struggle he pushed her under water and she lost consciousness, Tampa police said.
The Hillsborough County Fugitive Task Force arrested Samuel Brown about 12:30 p.m. Monday at 70th Street South and Flint Drive.
Brown was charged with attempted murder and sexual battery after the July 6 incident at Ragan Park, 1200 E. Lake Ave.
The 48-year-old woman encountered Brown about 1 a.m. July 6, police said.
He asked her to have sex with him, and when she refused, he fought with her, according to a Tampa police report.
"When she regained consciousnesses, the suspect was gone, and she ran to a friend's house," the release stated. "They called police, and she was transported to University Community Hospital."
The woman has been released from the hospital, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Brown, of 1709 E. 29th Ave., remained in Orient Road Jail today. Bail had not been set.
