TAMPA - A three-alarm fire today at a two-story apartment building in Tampa is now under control, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Fire crews first responded to 4817 Temple Heights Road about 2:55 p.m., and they discovered a second floor apartment on fire.

The fire entered the attic and threatened the entire building, a fire rescue release states.

"Fire crews got ahead of the spreading flames and snuffed them as quickly as possible," the statement said.

The fire was under control about 3:49 p.m.

Two residents suffered smoke inhalation and were treated on scene, the statement said.

No other injuries were reported.

It appears several apartments were damaged, but it's not clear how many people will be displaced by the blaze, the statement said.

About 50 responders were on scene from stations in North Tampa, East Tampa, Tampa Palms, Sulphur Springs, Hillsborough County, University Area, Seminole Heights, Robles Park, Ybor City and downtown, the statement said.
