ST. PETERSBURG - A man was arrested Sunday night on charges he stabbed and wounded a man last month as the man tried to stop him from breaking in to an apartment for the second time in a single day, according to records.
James Harris, 42, is charged with attempted murder and burglary. He is being held today without bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
Pinellas sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda said Harris had already broken in to an apartment at 3681 50th Ave. N. on June 30, stealing prescription bottles while an occupant was asleep, when he returned.
Neighbor Troy Lamoureux, 38, had seen Harris go into the apartment, so when Harris returned for what would have been a second burglary, Lamoureux tried stopping him, Barreda said.
Harris stabbed Lamoureux at least four times before running away, leaving the victim bleeding in an alley with injuries that weren't life-threatening, authorities say.
