A 16-year-old boy was arrested this afternoon in Oneco on a charge that he raped a teenage girl Wednesday at Pride Park, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
The teen, Emmitt Crawford, was arrested without incident at his home in the 5800 block of 11th Street East. Authorities said Crawford does not know the rape victim, who was dragged into a bathroom at Pride Park on Wednesday morning and assaulted.
The rape happened about 9:15 a.m. in the 800 block of 63rd Avenue East.
Authorities said they developed leads and identified Crawford as a suspect. Crawford will be held in juvenile detention as prosecutors decide whether to file an adult-level rape charge against him.
