McCollum Has Stent Implanted

TAMPA - State Attorney General Bill McCollum had a cardiac stent implanted Tuesday to improve blood flow, according to a spokeswoman.

"Last week, Attorney General McCollum's physicians discovered a singular partial arterial blockage during a routine screening," spokeswoman Sandi Copes in a news release. "At his physicians' advice, the Attorney General underwent additional tests earlier this week to determine the best course of treatment.

"Today, the partial blockage was successfully remedied by the placement of a stent, a small metal tube that is inserted permanently into an artery to improve blood flow."

McCollum's doctors say he will recover fully within days, Copes wrote.
