Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty

More than three weeks after being warned by animal services to take care of her dogs, a Tampa woman was arrested last night after police found one of the dogs dead, infested with insects.

Jeronda Lanae Toni Reddick, 27, was first warned by Hillsborough County Animal Services on June 2 that she needed to provide food, water and shelter for her two dogs, according to a criminal report affidavit, which offers the Tampa Police Department's version of what happened.

After the initial warning, Reddick was told June 25th that one of the dogs was sick and needed medical attention and water. Reddick ignored the warning and went back into her house, at 9614 N. 11th St. in Tampa.

When police arrived at 7 p.m. yesterday, the dog, estimated to be about 8 months old, was dead. It was infested with insects and oozing bodily fluid. There was no apparent access to any water and the dog had been dead for about 20 hours. The report does not state what kind of dog or its name.

Reddick was charged with animal cruelty, a felony and was released on a $2,000 bond at 2:25 a.m., according to jail records.
