TAMPA - A Land O' Lakes man has been arrested on charges that he embezzled near $1 million from DigiQuest Technologies, where he worked as chief operating officer.
Patrick H. Dean, 44, worked for the Tampa company from 2004 until December. The owner of the company filed a complaint with the Tampa Police Department against Dean when Dean left DigiQuest.
Tampa police officials said Dean was a trusted employee who was found to have stolen money and goods from the company. An investigation showed Dean ordered items the company did not need and then sold them from his home, police said.
Investigators secured an arrest warrant, and Dean turned himself in about 4 p.m. Thursday. He was released after posting $77,000 bail.
Dean is charged with several counts of grand theft, scheming to defraud and making false entries in corporate books.
