Aluminum Plant Closes
PLANT CITY - Workers heading to Golden Aluminum Extrusions today won't be there to work. They'll be picking up their tools.
The company, one of the city's largest employers, shut down Friday, according to union officials. The closing of the Alumax Drive plant affects about 140 workers, said Gary Colbert, the interim chief executive officer. He said workers would be allowed inside today to get their tools and that he didn't know whether the plant would reopen.

A New Water Program
TAMPA - Builders and developers can get a "grip" on reclaimed water, thanks to a new water district program offering them money to hook up. The Grants for Reclaimed Irrigation Projects will offer help to builders to offset the cost of laying lines for reclaimed water in new developments.
Various basin boards throughout the Southwest Florida Water Management District are funding the program, which will reimburse developers $600 per house for the hookups.
