A 5-year-old was shot in the leg late Wednesday at a home on Arbutus Drive in Port Richey, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities say there was a fight and somebody pulled out a gun and fired about 10 p.m. The bullet ricocheted and grazed the boy's left leg, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
A neighbor heard the gunshot.
"There was yelling and screaming back and forth, 'That's my son, that's my son,' " Brian Fucci said. "It took about four or five minutes, and the police cars arrived, and they went running in with their guns out screaming, 'Where's the gun? Where's the gun?' "
The child was taken by medical helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
Deputies are still investigating. Detectives said the people involved were not being cooperative Wednesday night.
