Four men tried buying four kilograms of cocaine from an agent of the Tampa Police Department on Wednesday night, police say.
Officers arrested Arturo Aleman, 33, of Kissimmee; Orbil Millan-Romero, 34, of Tampa; Pedro Pinet, 35, of Tampa; and Ricardo Quinones-Romero, 28, of Tampa.
Prior to the drug deal, Millan-Romero and Pinet told an agent of Tampa police that they wanted to buy four kilograms of cocaine, an arrest affidavit states. They also told the agent that Aleman and Quinones-Romero were willing to come from Kissimmee to Tampa to finance the $84,000 deal.
On Wednesday night, the men showed a large amount of money to the agent. Aleman and Quinones-Romero said they wanted to do the deal elsewhere and drove off with the money, according to the affidavit. They were stopped and arrested.
Pinet and Millan-Romero were arrested while trying to view the cocaine, which had been in the possession of an undercover Tampa police detective, an arrest affidavit states.
Investigators searching Quinones-Romero's vehicle found a hidden compartment containing a .40-caliber gun, 435 grams of heroin and $75,525.
Aleman and Quinones-Romero were charged with attempted armed trafficking, conspiracy to traffic in cocaine and armed trafficking in heroin. Quinones-Romero also is listed as Quinones Romero and Romero-Quinones in arrest affidavits.
Millan-Romero and Pinet were charged with attempted armed trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to traffic in cocaine.
Aleman, Pinet, Quinones-Romero and Millan-Romero were being held without bail in Orient Road Jail.
