Two New Port Richey residents were killed in a crash Wednesday night in Palm Harbor.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Leigh Hallett, 53, and Robert Hallett, 51, died when their car was hit while trying to cross East Lake Road (County Road 611).

The 25-year-old driver who struck them was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in critical condition, troopers said. FHP identified her Thursday night as Michelle Jensen, of Clearwater.

The accident report said Leigh Hallett was driving east on Boot Ranch Boulevard and trying to cross East Lake Road about 10 p.m. Her 2002 Toyota drove into the path of a 2003 Cheverolet heading south on East Lake Road, the highway patrol said.

After the collision, both vehicles traveled about 80 feet, the patrol's report said.

Leigh and Robert Hallet were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing seat belts.

The crash is under investigation.
