A hit-and-run crash in Manatee County on Sunday left a motorcyclist in serious condition and troopers searching for the unknown driver.
The collision happened on U.S. 301 north of East 63rd Avenue at 4:10 p.m., when the driver of a possibly gold-colored passenger vehicle hit a trailer towed by Terry Boozer of Parrish as both were heading north, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The impact caused Boozer's Ford pickup to spin into another lane and forced motorcyclist Gary Garrott, 21, to try to avoid the truck. Garrott's 2006 Yamaha motorcycle hit a median, throwing Garrott, the accident report said.
The gold-colored vehicle continued north, the highway patrol said, with damage to its front.
Garrott, of Orlando, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg with what the highway patrol called serious injuries. Boozer, 47, received minor injuries. Alcohol was not a factor on either driver's part, the report said.
The highway patrol is asking anyone with information about the incident to call (941) 751-7647, ext. 439.
