A mother was arrested Saturday night after deputies found drugs and a handgun within easy reach of her 3-week-old baby and 14-year-old child, according to arrest reports.
Anastasia Conception Usher, 31, of 8611 Spartan Court, was arrested on two counts of child neglect, armed trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park and maintaining a drug dwelling with minors present. Usher was also arrested on a charge of violating probation.
Deputies also arrested Bernard Quillen, 27, on two counts of child neglect and 16 drug-related charges.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies and arrest reports give this account of what happened about 11 p.m. Saturday:
Investigators served the search warrant at the home on Spartan Court that Usher and Quillen share. They found the couple, the 3-week-old and a 14-year-old boy inside.
About 28 grams of cocaine, 104 grams of marijuana, 8 grams of ecstasy and 2 grams of Xanax were found scattered throughout the home. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were sitting in plain view, investigators say.
A .9mm Luger pistol and .9mm ammunition were also seized.
Usher and Quillen are being held without bail at the Orient Road Jail.
It's unclear whether Usher's children went to stay with relatives or were taken into custody by the Florida Department of Children & Families.
