St. Pete-Clearwater airport marks passenger increases

October passenger traffic at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport increased nearly 90 percent compared with October 2008, to 32,987 from 17,407, the airport said.

Also, traffic for the first 10 months of 2009 is up 3 percent, the airport said.

The airport had no international flights in October; all traffic was domestic.

Locair will begin service Friday between the Pinellas airport and the Bahamas, Sunwing Airlines will resume service Dec. 21 to Toronto and Transat Holidays will resume service Feb. 23 to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
