An Apollo Beach teen was sentenced to five years in prison today for a DUI fatality in February 2008.
Hillsborough Circuit Judge Manuel A. Lopez also placed David Holdsworth on 10 years of probation after his release from prison.
Holdsworth, 19, pleaded guilty in December to a charge of driving under the influence manslaughter.
Authorities said Holdsworth was driving his 1999 Chevrolet Camaro east on Apollo Beach Boulevard on Feb. 28, 2008, when he lost control and slammed into a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice stopped at Surfside Drive.
The Camaro was traveling in excess of 75 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
The Caprice's driver, Samuel Garcia, 32, died at the scene.
Holdsworth's blood alcohol level was .136 percent an hour after the crash, authorities said. State law presumes impairment at a level of 0.08.
Editor's note: A previous version of this story inaccurately reported Holdsworth's blood alcohol level.
