A search in St. Petersburg for two armed suspects who threatened somebody at a Tampa nightclub is over, but the pair was not found, St. Petersburg police said.

The suspects led authorities on a chase from Tampa into Pinellas County after an incident early this morning at Club Mirage, 3605 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa police said.

About 3:10 a.m., Tampa police responded to a call about an armed man who threatened someone at the club. As the armed man and another person drove from the club, their car struck a pedestrian, police said. The victim left the scene before police arrived, Lt. David Goodman said.

An officer spotted the suspects' car and pursued it into St. Petersburg. The suspects' vehicle crashed in an alley off 44th Street South, near 24th Avenue, and two people jumped out and ran, authorities said.

Tampa police, St. Petersburg police, Gulfport police and Pinellas County deputies used police dogs and a helicopter to search for them.

At one point during the search, Pinellas deputies believed the suspects had gone into a house at 2235 44th St. S., but that turned out not to be the case, St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.

The suspects have not been located, Proffitt said.

The suspects should be considered armed and dangerous, Goodman said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at (813) 354-6600.
