A fugitive who fled from a work release program in St. Petersburg two months ago has been arrested in Hillsborough County, Pinellas deputies say.
Investigators arrested Paul Rigakos, 36, this morning at 5103 Cresthill Drive in Tampa.
Rigakos was serving a 21-month sentence for several convictions of obtaining a controlled substance when he escaped from the Suncoast Work Release Center on Sept. 17, deputies say. He was later seen in Pinellas County trying to fill fraudulent prescriptions at pharmacies.
A tipster contacted CrimeStoppers about Rigakos' whereabouts, and investigators tracked Rigakos to the home on Cresthill Drive.
He is being held on an escape warrant and will be transferred to Pinellas County, where he also will face seven counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, three counts of trying to obtain a controlled substance by fraud, seven counts of trafficking in oxycodone and three counts of attempting to traffic in oxycodone. The new charges stem from investigations after his escape, deputies say.
